The St. Albert Community Village is very pleased to partner with Student Legal Services (SLS) of Edmonton.
Since mid-May 2013, Student Legal Services of Edmonton has been conducting a pilot project. This group is a student-managed, non-profit society dedicated to helping low income individuals in Edmonton and area understand their legal issues and resolve their legal problems.
SLS is divided into different projects which include the following: Criminal Law Project, Legal Education and Reform Project and Pro Bono Students Canada.
The students provide assistance through the Civil and Family Law Project at the Community Village.
The Civil and Family Law Project offers assistance with landlord/tenant matters, uncontested divorces. It provides information about maintenance applications, custody and access and other family legal issues.
The Civil Law Project assists people who are involved with the following issues:
- Landlord and Tenant
- Contracts
- Debt/Collection Agencies
- Consumer Law
- WCB Hearings and Appeals
- EI Hearings
- Small Claims
- Bailment/Personal Property
- Employment/Wrongful Dismissal
- CPP Appeals
- Student Appeals
