Nurturing Opportunities for Wellness (N.O.W)

Are you ready for a change? Not sure how? Same old, same old not working? READY to… make a commitment, participate, be open with self, be honest with self and listen?

The next two Nurturing Opportunities for Wellness (N.O.W) Program sessions will be offered on Tuesdays during the summer of 2015: July 7, 14, 21, 28  from 10:00 a.m to 12:30 p.m., and August 4, 11, 18, 25  from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information, please contact Fay at the St. Albert Community Village by calling 780.459.0585.

Nurturing Opportunities for Wellness (N.O.W.): explore holistic wellness in a supportive environment. Through participation and individual experiences, insights and tools will be provided to help cope with life challenges such as stress, anxiety and depression.

N.O.W Mission Statement: to provide individuals nurturing opportunities to explore holistic wellness in a supportive environment.

N.O.W Vision: through reducing stress and anxiety by nurturing self, individuals can successfully contribute in developing healthy lifestyle choices and build a community that has qualities of peace, empowerment and equanimity.

The N.O.W. program supports awakening to our wholeness: the beginning of a nurturing journey involving the Mind, Body and Environment. Through participation and individual experiences, insights and tools will be provided to help cope with life challenges such as stress, anxiety and depression. Learn to use holistic techniques to achieve wellness.

Participation in the four week program involves being ready and committed to make a positive difference in your life. Investment is a $5 donation.

Loving Mind - is a way of thinking and acting, using the full power of our mind to understand and provide us with solutions. Explore how the mind effects our mental, emotional and physical being.

Vital Breath - the way we breathe effects the health of all our body functions. Explore different breathing exercises that will improve your knowledge and ability to breathe mindfully.

Joyful Movement - physical activity and exercises have positive influence on our overall well-being. Explore the enjoyment of movement and wealth of benefits.

Peaceful Relaxation - relation techniques help to attain a state of calmness, creating a feeling of inner peace. Explore ways of relaxing through guided meditation and visualization.

Healing Food - We are what we eat? Explore the nourishing and healing values of food. How food supports us mentally, physically and emotionally.

Self care - there is no better way to energize your body, mind and spirit than with self care. Explore and experience simple ways of pampering yourself.

N.O.W. Facilitators are:

Fay Lucy, a registered Social Worker at the St. Albert Community Village. She is a registered Massage Therapist and a registered Yoga Instructor (Certified with the Yoga Association of Alberta). Fay has worked with children and adults, learning barriers, women in prison, women in shelters and in the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Fay loves the spirit insights that are shared in the community work.

Anne Leth, has a background in life coaching and has taught classes on changing your life path. Through extensive self work in workshops, reading and extended education and exploring, she has acquired the skills needed to navigate her own experiences with anxiety. Anne has also worked in various volunteer organizations and supports others by empowering them to live their lives to the fullest.
